So you want to get involved.
There are three main areas for involvement, & three corresponding main sections on this website.
Funding Conservation
Credible organizations across the world are currently helping vultures - whether that be through conducting research, aiding and providing safe havens for vultures, participating in breeding programs, or helping push laws that are aimed at protecting vultures. All of these causes require funding, and while some receive that from the government and grants, a lot of it is dependent on donations. Check out our the link below to see what organizations you can help out today.
Volunteering
Vultures and other raptors get injured every day - help them directly by volunteering at centers that care for them, and help educate others about them. There are hundreds of raptor and nature centers across North America! If you are a resident of Canada or the US, check the link below to find a potential opportunity near you. Note: CAFE Vulture does not guarantee any of the listed centers will have volunteer opportunities, nor that they are currently housing vultures.
Aiding Awareness
Vultures are unfortunately surrounded by negative misconceptions. The essentiality of vultures to ecosystems is also not widespread knowledge. You can change this! Read through our articles to learn more about the fascinating vultures of the world, and break misconceptions regarding vultures. From here, you can go on to teach others about the importance of vultures, along with clearing up the negative misconceptions that surround them.
Get others involved!
Conservation and awareness are what we’re all about at CAFE Vulture, but we recognize that these are efforts that no one person can tackle alone. Which is why invite you to bring others along for the ride!
Strike Conversation With Others
Vultures are found throughout the world - particularly turkey vultures in North America. If you ever see some and happen to be with family or friends, point the vultures out! Chances are, someone will make a comment about them, which will open up a chance for you to break misconceptions about them, and even discuss their significance to the environment, and to discuss the endangered status many vultures have. Don’t see many vultures near your area? Other places to bring up these discussions can include ecology classrooms, nature and/or raptor centers, birding trails, other nature-related volunteering settings, or even just with family and friends in general. Any place you feel comfortable bringing up discussion regarding vultures is a good one.
Invite Others to Our Website or Socials
If you find whoever you talked to has interest in helping vultures or learning more about them (or if you know someone who already has these interests), send them our way! CAFE Vulture is a one-stop shop for all things vulture, and is ever growing in resources and articles regarding vultures. If they want more information regarding vultures, they can check out a presentation linked below that explains their importance:
Otherwise, they can check out our Our Mission page, to find out more about our organization. See the link above for the About Us page. Last but not least, feel free to point them towards out Instagram, linked below.
